GAD Focal Person

Campus GAD Focal Point System The Campus GAD Focal Point System serves as the university’s focal unit for promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and gender-responsive governance in all other units and offices. It ensures the integration of gender and development agenda into institutional policies, programs, and activities in accordance with laws and guidelines set by the Philippine Commission for Women, Commission on Higher Education and the Board of Regents of the Mindanao State University System.

The unit leads gender and development mainstreaming initiatives, provides capacity-building and advocacy activities, and supports mechanisms for the prevention and response to gender-based discrimination and violence ensuring a safe space for learning. The unit also leads the promotion of cultural understanding specially of the Maranao and other Lumad cultures which greatly affect the gender and development isssues. It also coordinates monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of GAD-related programs to help foster a safe, equitable, and inclusive academic environment for all members of the university community.

Functions:

  1. Lead gender mainstreaming in institutional policies, plans, programs, and processes in the campus.
  2. Prepare GAD Plan and Budget (GPB) for implementation.
  3. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of GAD-related programs, activities, and projects.
  4. Prepare and consolidate required GAD reporting documents.
  5. Provide technical assistance for gender analysis and integration.
  6. Organize capacity-building activities.
  7. Establish and strengthen linkages and partnerships.
  8. Lead the promotion of and safe environments.
